Question:
what's the difference between whey protein and soy protein?
what's the difference between whey protein and soy protein? and what does "pre-digested" mean? — Cathy S. (posted on December 14, 2002)

Whey protein comes from milk and soy protein comes from soybeans. Both are
acceptable protein supplements. I tend to get gassy from soy protein.
Others find the whey protein difficult to digest. Try both and see which
you prefer. I am in love with EAS Low Carb MetRX. Pre-digested means that
it has been processed with enzymes that help it to be absorbed easier in
the intestinal track.

To further break down those definitiions, whey is a by product of cheese
making. People with lactose & dairy intolerance often tolerate whey.
In a protein, it's smooth & shakes up easily in water. Blended whey is
#1 on the bioavialability list. Soy is more gritty in texture & if
flavored, is likely to be farily high in sugars. If unflavored, it needs to
be flavored with something. It's about #10 in bioavailability.

The previous post is right whey is from milk and soy is from soybeans.
Whey is supposed to be the highest quality protein. Pre-digested protein
is actually protein made from collagen, which is usually from animal waste
products like fish scales. But even with the whey in order for it to be
absorbed 100% you need whey protein with whey peptides. If the peptides
aren't there your body needs to create them to breakdown and absorb the
protein. Our bodies usually do not have enough time to do this. Fo to
www.protein-solution.com for a comparison chart of the most common protein
supplements.
