What protein drinks taste the best? Which flavors?
Has anyone used protein drinks to travel with? — Cathy S. (posted on December 4, 2002)

Real Meals tastes great and comes in purse sized resealable pouches. I
like the chocolate but I have always been a chocoholic! Go to

This is such a personalized issue. I have tried some brands that others
raved about and couldn't stand them. Others tasted okay but gave me
incredible gas because of other ingredients (too much fiber for me in the
Cookies and Cream by Spirutein). Also, I have difficulty tolerating
soy-based protein supplements without getting gas, as I have a slight soy
allergy. So the best any of us can give you is our opinion. (And the AMOS
library is loaded with recommendations...) As for me, the only protein
supplement I really like is Myoplex Low Carb or Myoplex Lite, both are whey
protein based. I especially like the premixed in Chocolate Fudge, but find
it a little expensive. They come in Vanilla Cream, Chocolate Cream or
Berry Cream. Personally, I find mixing them with ice cold water instead of
milk gives them a smoother texture. But mixing them with milk makes them
more milkshake-like. It is a great way to get 25-50 grams of protein
quickly and easily. Good Luck on your trial and error search! By the way,
I have found that my muscle building friends have been more than willing to
take my rejected protein supplement left-overs, so pass them along....

I purchase Designer Whey (Vanilla Praline) at GNC, it's delicious. I mix a
scoop or two with fat free milk, 1/2 a banana, couple strawberries and some
ice in the blender. I never get tired of it. I have one every morning. As
for traveling, GNC carries the Atkins shake in a can. I did not like the
vanilla but, I believe the chocolate was pretty good. Just make sure it is
very cold. I spent alot of dollars finding the right protein powder, these
are the ones for me but, we all have different taste buds. I hope you find
the right one for you.

I like Real Meals the best. And I have tried them all. They also have the
most nutritional value I have seen. I had my pharmacist check it out and
he said it was very good. If you look in the product reviews most people
seen to have the same opinion on Real Meals.

Travel by how? By car, I tok about 7 brands--I use several. One by the
Tbsp (Cheramino, 4 T= 30g), one mixed into my water bottle (Amino INfusion
5000), my beloved ProScore 100 YUMMMMMMMMM (chocolate, of course) and some
shakables. Presently, I use Cheramino & PS100 at home, and Pure Whey
Stack as my shaker. I never use anything but water (& ice, if I can get
it). I have bottles that are pre-filled with 30g worth of dry poowder
(Stack). I can grab these, grab powder packs (little containers that hold
3 servings) and be off for a coupla days. All I need is water. I COULD
use just the Cheramino, but why? I LIKE chocolate!

I use the Designer Whey at home and flavor it with sugar-free syrups from
Davinci. When I need to grab one and run I use Carb-solutions. Watch out
for the fat though. There are about 12 grams in one bottle. No sugar and
the carbs are very low. Best of luck to you.
