Question:
Fun things to do once the weight comes off:)

Hey last night i tossed out the seatbelt extender Jen used in my van. No longer nexcessary! Now buying clothes and stuff at regular stores is fun. But what other milestones have you enjoyed? — bob-haller (posted on November 24, 2002)

with the weight i have lost (50#) i have started to plan a dream trip of mine. That is to be able to trek and see the mountain gorilla's in Uganda and Rwanda this coming spring... Its great knowing I won't hold anyone up on the trek....

I havent had my surgery yet but the one thing that I am so excitted about isgoing to the ammusment park and getting on the ride and not have to worry if the bars wont close because of being to big. Also I cant wait to go shopping for cloths and shoes.Almost every thing in our lives will be different from this lifesaver there just isnt enough space to write it all down.

I haven't lost all the weight yet, so far -61#s, but I am enjoying having a better sex life :-) and also...riding a Harley that I just got and not worrying that I am too heavy! I am also thrilled that I fit in the desks at the University.

I gotta second the one for the amusement park! Walking around without getting tired and not worrying that you won't be able to fit on any of the rides! Also, having my new friend able to lift me and sitting on his lap and not worrying that I am crushing his legs!

I'm amazed every time I cross my legs. I've never been able to do this before!

I have been able to do several things that I couldn't before such as wearing my rings that haven'e fit for years. Sitting in a booth at a restaurant without thinking the jaws of life is going to have to get me out. The funniest one I think is that I now fit on the toilet seats at work. I work at a hospital and they have handles attached to the toilet seat. It was miserable trying to do my business before. Now I have room to spare. I am flying on a business trip in a couple months and I know I will no longer need the seat belt extender, that will be wonderful. I have been embarassed numerous times when I had to ask for one and the tiny little stewardess would just give me this look that made me feel like I wasn't even human.

Hmmm...let's see...riding a bicycle for miles and miles in Key West without feeling like I was going to have a heart attack...fitting in those little plastic lawn chairs...being described as "the small petite woman"...buying clothes without trying them on and then returning some only because the ALL FIT and I shouldn't have spent THAT MUCH money....being able to borrow a jacket from a friend while I go to NYC instead of having to invest in one for the 4 days I will need it...(I live in FL, no need for a winter jacket!). I could go on and on and on and on... :)

People sit next to me on the subway now, even if there are empty seats next to other people. Used to be, nobody sat next to my large personage unless it was the *last* seat available!

I have always wanted to walk to the bottom of the grand canyon and more importandely back out again. Jen is happy to be light enough to ride a donkey down.

When I made my decision to have surgery, we planned out dream trip.. two weeks in Alaska .. hiking.. riding.. and enjoying ourselves. That map of Alaska helped me get my ass off the couch when I was recovering and walk.. *grin* I also made a long list of things I wanted to do.. so I cross stuff off that list -- its a little more ordinary than the dream trip. We go to Alaska Augsut 2003.

HI BOB! What a wonderful question! I'm at goal now with 130 lost, and at 120 pounds. Gosh, I cant pin point one thing.. size 6 jeans, xs tops, collerbones and one chin. The ability and energy to go dancing all night long. (though I dont think Im that good! But I can fake it!) :)
Running after my daughter, my runner who will run in the middle of the road. THAT is a milestone! Climbing that tree after a toy for my child. Making new friends, and being a new friend. Gosh, dare I say, desirable? Self confidence/esteem at an all time high. "These are a few of the wonderful things" that are a part of WLS for me. Love ya Bob! Annie

I attended the Pittsburgh Steeler game on 11/24. I was able to walk from the Subway station to my seat in section 525 at Heinz Field (a very long walk - 2 miles?) without resting.

I went horseback riding with my daughter and wasn't fearful for the horse. LOL I have been happy to be able to wear stylish clothes from name brand stores. I am going to try skiing for the first time this year. I also want to go horseback riding with my daughter in the mountains. Wednesday I am starting kickboxing. Ain't it great? =)

I cleaned out my closet and had two tubs of old clothes that don't fit anymore, and not because they are too tight!!!!! I have not seen my extended family since surgery on September 13, 2002, so I'm looking forward to the pats on the back. I'm able to walk every day, and before surgery, I couldn't make it to the mailbox (all down hill.) I'm off all meds- except my thyroid. That's down from 12 pills a day to 1, plus a vitamin and calcium supp! Life is good and getting better!

One of the biggest proud moments lately has been wearing the seat belt in the back of my friend's boyfriend's car without it digging into me or not fitting at all.
And easily getting in and out of the pathologists chair without embarssment.

I have a LOOOONG way to go...but these are the milestones since Sep 4th,2002........The seatbelt in my husband's truck fits me, I can finally go in and actualy FIT in the clothes at LaneBryant instead of catalog shopping. Got rid of ALL 30's, 28's, and 26's. Can tie my own shoes again. Can "DO" stairs normally.I've gone from a 46D to a 42C.(My husband has mixed feelings about this one)I don't think about food. I actually LOVE excercizing now (at Curves 4 days/week).I lost 14 inches after 1 month at Curves. I don't cringe when I look in the mirror. I am always smiling.I guess this is enough (Not bad for less than 3 months out!!!!!!!!!!)

Sitting comfortably in a booth, crossing my legs, tying my shoes, bending over to pick something up off the floor, keeping up with my 6 year old, being able to sit 3 in a seat on the bus for my daughter's field trips, being able to shop and actually buy things at regular stores, and wearing pants that were my sister's that are too small for her. The list goes on and on...
