Question:
Las Vegas Buffets

Does anyone know which, if any, hotels and casinos honor the WLS meal cards in Las Vegas, NV. My family loves the buffets but I hate to pay full price for ambience and 5 tablespoons of food!    — Caddy W. (posted on November 23, 2002)

I took my surgery card with me to Vegas but never used it. What we did was eat at the afternoon buttets, which are cheaper and the food is just a good. And by the time you fill up then you won't need anything for dinner, except may be something light later on in the evening. Also, I will admit I cheated a little by sipping water while eating so the food would just travel on thru. I don't make this a habit but if I'm paying $15-20 per meal, I'm going for all it's worth. It worked out well. Got back right on track and it didn't do me any harm. It was my one main meal of the day. By the way, enjoy your trip! I am jealous. Went in August and was born to be a wealthy woman. It just hasn't happeded -- yet. Best wishes on your journey. I would recommend Vegas to everyone at least once, and more often if possible. Lots to do, lots to see, lots of fun! Enjoy!

Personally, I would just go to dinner with your family and say you are not eating when you go to pay or maybe just order a drink. Then you can "sneak" a bite or two off of their plates without causing a problem. Unless the wait staff are watching you like a hawk, then I dont think it is a problem since most are too overworked to pay close attention to just one table.

It wasn't Vegas, but my family and I went up to East Stroudburg, PA (in the Poconos) about a month ago. We went to a Sunday Brunch at the hotel restaurant. I explained to the waiter that I had stomach surgery and could not eat that much. He allowed my wife to give me some of the food off her buffet plate and allowed her to get me a glass of OJ. i used to live in las vegas & we 'buffeted' it on a regular basis. terrible's casino, sunset station, sams town & the rio all honored my restaurant card & they have all have awesome food! u will also find that most hotel coffee shops, again...awesome food, will also honor ur card & let u share for a very nominal amount or order from the seniors or children's menus. u also might want to think about ordering an appetizer as ur meal, something i did frequently. good luck & have tons of fun.

I guess I don't get the big deal with paying for a buffet I won't eat much of - I've been paying such a high price all these years anyway (200 pounds of excess weight) for what I DID eat there.
