Question:
When ,if ever, is it alright to use butter?
I've heard that mashed potatoes, grits, oatmeal, and the like are good foods to eat soon after surgery but I've alsways used butter on them. Is this a no no? — dianna W. (posted on November 22, 2002)

I use butter. I eat so little now I don't worry about the little extra
fat. It has worked for me I am below goal at six months.

I use the butter spray. It has no fat or calories. I think it tastes just
as good as the real thing. You can use it to cook with just like regular
butter. I use it in all of my recipes. I like the I Can't Believe It's Not
Butter brand the best. I hope this helps.

My nutritionist requires us to have a little butter or margarine every day.
It helps in avoiding constipation and your body requires some fat. Now I
wouldn't go overboard, but a little butter shouldn't do you any harm.

I would choose butter over margarine or any artifical butter-like chemical
filled product. In moderation, it's fine. I use it on my cooked veggies
every evening and I've lost 80 pounds in 16 weeks.
