Hi, I am 3 weeks out and my doctor is pretty strict on what we eat. I just was released to eat cooked dry bean, eggs, cheese, crackers, potatoes. Sort of a soft diet. But every Doc is different. Did your Doctor give you guidelines? I am required to get 50-60 grams of protien in a day. I also drink protien supplements to fill this requirement. But as for food... my directions are easy does it and follow the Docs rules. Good Luck.

hi -- I'll be three weeks out in two days, and my doctor has advanced me to what he calls "Stage 2," which is not quite soft, not quite full diet. I am allowed to have cooked meat, fish, poultry, cheese, tuna, peanut butter, dairy, fresh fruit without the skin or seeds, soft cooked fresh, frozen or canned vegetables, pasta, crackers, toast, soups. This seems like a lot, but I'll tell you, I'm still taking it really slowly. Many of my meals are cottage cheese, tuna, eggs, or fat free refried beans. I think in a couple of days I might try some meat. I've been keeping my protein over 55, my carbs under 30, and have been averaging about 450-550 calories a day. Feel free to email me if you have any questions/suggestions/ideas! Good luck.

Hi there...It's true that every doctor is different. I am now 4 weeks out. I went to my doctor a week after my surgery and he told me to go ahead and try anything - one new food at a time to see how well I tolerate it. I'm still being very careful what I eat because I know that my pouch is still healing. I can eat eggs, tuna, turkey, don't fuss but I even eat fried fish sticks now and then. Mashed potatoes and refried beans are my favorites as they go down so easily. I love cheese and crackers. Over the weekend I had to travel with my job and we stopped at Krystal's to eat. Well, they have these new little chicken bites and so I ordered a small order and ate 3 of them. I didn't have any problems with that at all. That night though I ate 2 meatballs and some cheese dip. I'm not sure which but one of them gave me diarehea pretty bad - I think it was the pepper's in the cheese dip. LOL I felt bad for about an hour and after that I was fine. It's still a learning experience and I feel like I am pretty much on my own. My doctor doesn't want to see me again until Jan. which will be 3 months after my surgery. I'm feeling great. I take my calcium and vitamins every day and I try to eat enough protein and I am always drinking water. I love my water!!! I need to exercise more but I'm sure that will get easier. God bless you all. I've lost about 32 pounds in 4 weeks and this is indeed an answer to prayer. Debbie
