Question:
Where do you find proof having asthma as a comorbidity?

Some insurance company says yes and some say no that asthma is a co-morbidity. How do you show proof to the appeals coordinator that yes asthma is a life threatning comorbidity. What website can you find this information at.    — Annette W. (posted on November 4, 2002)

I don' t know what web site for you to look, but it seems that your own health records would hold the answer for you. How many times have you been hospitalized for asthma, how much medication are you on? Are you taking any steroids? Is it impacting on your day to day living? And in what ways. I used asthma as a comorbidity,(along with quite a few others) because it is an illness that impacted on my day to day health.

Compile a list of all the associated costs that your asthma has cost your insurance company in $$$ and you in decreased quality of life. You'd be amazed and how much they spend on treatments, medications, emergency room visits, hospitalizations, and routine care. Ashtma is definitely a comorbidity.

My wifes asthma which caused her to be off work on disablity completely disappeared after WLS. It was a miracle. She was unable to work, go for a walk or even play goofy golf. Her pulmonologist says asthma in MO is caused by the body cavity being so packed full of fat the lungs cant expand. Surgery and the weight loss cures asthma in most MOs.
