Question:
WLS with cyst on ovaries?
Can you have WLS if you have a cyst on your ovaries? — EvningStar81 (posted on November 1, 2002)

I don't see how one issue has anything to do with the other? Have you been
told that you couldn't? Is there more to this question that you could
expand on a little? If it is just a plain old ovarian cyst, usually you
are given BC pills to shrink them- or they get physically removed. So - if
it is removable- it is extremely possible that you could get it removed at
the same time you have WLS. Or, are you speaking perhaps of Poly Cystic
Ovarian Syndrome- a condition that symptoms include cysts on your ovaries?
If so there are a HUNDRED posts about it in the database. Just type in
PCOS. In many cases WLS helps PCOS symptoms......

Jessica--I was able to have WLS. Although, they were not aware of the
cysts before the surgery. Although, my surgeon was aware that I had PCOS.
I had my surgery done open. When they got in there, they actually ended up
removing a large cyst from one of my ovaries. Hope that helps. Tiffany

About a month before surgery I had been to the ER with severe pain in my
lower right side, neither doc found anything wrong. About 30 min. into
surgery my surgeon found my right ovary to be twice the normal size and
covered in cysts, she came out and spoke with my husband and then removed
the ovary, no extra charge!! Finally now a diagnosis, PCOS. I'm glad they
could kill 2 birds with one stone!
