Question:
How serious is calcification on the Pancreas?
I had my pre-surgery ultrasound and they found I have calcification on my pancreas. I now have to see a Digestive Specialist to have an ERCP scope done to see the pancreas up close and personal. Thankfully I will be unconscious while they scope me. The surgeon won't do the surgery until I have the scope, so I hope I have the scope soon, because my surgery is scheduled for Nov 4, 2002. As of today, that is only 6 days away. Has anyone had this problem (calcification) or been scoped? How did your surgeon "fix" the pancreas? I was told the surgeon could "fix" it but I needed the scope first so he would know before going in what he needed to do. I have read on medical sites that people who have chronic pancreatis cannot eat fat and have to have their stomach drained... how does one get their stomach drained? Won't this surgery actually be a help to my pancreas? I am having the open rny gastric bypass, if you need to know which surgery I am having. Thanks for any responses I get. Gee. This is a new one one me? I had 4 liver masses that had to be biopsied
during my open RNY. After my panni last Apr., I got pancreatitis, which was
no picnic. My prayers are with you for an uneventful surgery and a very
speedy recovery!
