Question:
Is my weight loss on target?
I am almost 3 months post op lap rny. I have lost 65 pounds. I looked at the weight loss guide on this web site and according to that I am behind. I know that we shouldn't compare to other people because our bodies are all different. I just wanted to know if this weight loss was on target. I am 5'11" and started at 343. Thanks so much for you help. — tulagirl (posted on October 13, 2002)

You are right where you are supposed to be. And you are right...stop
comparing yourself to others...and charts are just charts...ball park
ideals.....keep up the awesome work. I hope I do as well, my surgery is
this Friday !

I have heard from two different surgeons that we should expect/hope to lose
about 35% of our excess weight within the first three months. So, assuming
that your ideal weight is about 160 lbs, you have already lost more than
your 35%. You're doing great! Congratulations! :-)

i know it is hard to not compare ourselves to others, but I looked at the
chart on this site too and I was behind, but then everytime I read the
Q&A from someone who had the surgery when I did, we were close, and
sometimes I was ahead of them. Besides, as everyone always says, when was
the last time you lost 65lbs in 3 months,,,,good job!!!! You are doing
very well by the way.
