Question:
What are all these tests?
I recieved my pre-op papers from the surgeon and it's got a laundry list of tests and orders that I have to get. What do these acronyms mean? CBC, CMP, T3, T4, TSH, SCD (knee) thanks! — Toni C. (posted on October 8, 2002)

Hey Just for anyone that may want it. www.labtestsonline.org you can find
any test and see why they are performed and what the numbers should be just
so you can know. I hope this helps. bye

I'm not sure what SCD is in the lab-world.....but you have *knee* in
parenthesis after it. The SCD that I know of is not a lab test, but it
stands for Sequential Compression Device...these are the automatic blow up
boot-type things that go on the leg, oftentimes from the foot to the calf
or knee, that simulates circulation while you are in surgery or while you
are still bed-bound. They help prevent blood clots by keeping the
circulation moving when you aren't able to walk around and move your legs
yourself.
