Question:
Is it normal to eat about 650 calories a day when you are 9 weeks post op?
I get my 50 grams of protein in a day and drink my water, limit fruit juice and exercise 1 mile 5 times a week. I've lost 53 pds. in 9 weeks. Is that about right/normal? I know everybody's different. Please let me know. Thanks. — Judy W. (posted on September 20, 2002)

Hi Judy,
According to my sugeons eating plan, you should be eating about 700 cal per
day and 70 grams of protein. It says you should eat 1000 cal per day by 7
months and 1200 cal per day at one year. I am 14 weeks out and I average
between 600-800 cal per day and 50-60 grams of protein. I just cant get
anymore in with the water vitamis and supplements. Your weight loss sounds
great! Good job!

I am 9 weeks post-op (had my surgery two days after yours) as well and I do
500-650 calories a day. I'm getting in 50-60g of protein (most days). I
haven't had any fruit juice since my first week post-op (when I was in the
hospital) - I've been doing water, Crystal Light, Wyler's Light Lemonade
mix and Lipton Diet Decaf Iced Tea Mix (with an occasional Diet Snapple
Lemon Tea - which is not decaf). I've lost 83 pounds in 9 weeks, but as
you say, everyone loses at different rates. I know I am looking forward
to losing the next 17 pounds and joining the Century Club... Good luck in
your weight loss too!!!!!!
