Question:
Why after surgery is BM so explosive?
I know this is not a favorite subject of anyones but I have noticed since my surgery that my BM's are Explosive. Alot of gas and flying debre. (sorry for the graphics)Is this due to the protein, change in eating and drinking habits, vitamins, calcium intake? If I could figure it out I would like to change it. Any help is welcomed and thanks in advance. — sandy W. (posted on August 31, 2002)

I wonder are you drinking regular or lactose free milk. You can becl=ome
lactose intollerant after the surgery and you will get that kind of
reaction. If you are not useinf lactose free milk you may want to try it!

It can be one of many things, dumping can cause this kind of bm. About
half of mine are that way, and it is something I just live with because I
would rather have this than constitpation. I don't have a lot of muscle
control in that area and that may contribute to it. I think mostly it is
the big change in diet. I am not sure about the latose tolerace clearing
it up, but I know that sugar can contriubute to this kind of bm. You are
right, it is gross, but I tell my support group that no subject is
untouchable for discussion.
