Question:
Bariatric Treatment Center is now one of my insurances preferred providers. They

They will pay 80% of what is reasonable and customery. Has any one been turned down by BTC for this reason. My insurance co. has already approved me for surgery. Does anyone know the cost of surgery at BTC in Ypsilanti, Mi. How much will I have to pay? How good does your credit have to be. Thank, Resa    — obsessivekompulsive (posted on August 25, 2002)

I had my surgery through BTC in June 2002 however it was through the Holland/Grand Haven office. But I would assume that the only differences in amounts might be in the bills from the Hospital where the surgery is performed. So a little bit more or less for the little test like X-Ray or Labs. These are just rounded figures and are what was charged to the insurance company (BCBS): BTC (preop testing, Dr's charge for sugery, and after care) $5,200.00 North Ottawa Hosp, $1,550.00 for pre testing $33,200,00 for surgery and hospital stay Anestesiology $1,780.00 There might also have been a few radiology bills but they wern't significant enough to remember however what BCBS has for a approved amount is alot different so they take off the provider discount and your copay or percentage is based on that left over amt. BTC is taking what I send them every month without finance charge (for me $25.00 month) But I don't owe all that much my top op copay was $1000.00 for surgery. Unless your paying the 100% of the costs don't worry about the bill until after surgery and your back to work they work with you as long as you don't attempt to never make any paymts.

My sister is also going through BTC in Ypsi. She has BCBS but has a high deductible and has to finance about 3500 for her surgery there. BTC does do payment plans on the balance so your surgery will not be held up for money issues alone. Since BTC does the surgery on site, I believe the costs are included in what they charge. But anyways, just to make sure I would suggest you call your patient rep. With the knowledge of your exact insurance, they should be able to give you a pretty close estimate of what the final total will be for you out of pocket. good luck =)

I have had 3 people tell me that they owed money at BTC in Ypsi and were never sent a bill. One friend told me that she was told that sometimes if your bill is very small that BTC does not bill you and they write it off. I don't know if these things are true or not. I will find out soon though since my bills should be coming in anyday. Good Luck! Open RNY 7/5/2002 (-46#)
