Question:
Stuck food - found a solution I wanted to share!!

Hi Everyone! I've been in pain since about 2 hours after dinner yesterday (it's now 3 in the morning). I came to the message board and library to look for ideas. Had tried vomiting, moving around, going for a walk, massage, relaxation, sleeping, taking my nightly Prilosec, but nothing worked. I tried the "hot tea" trick I found here on the library - worked wonderfully! The poster had said it would either help things down or help things up. After sipping on it gingerly, I could feel things starting to move, started to burp a bit, etc. About 10 minutes later I vomited up part of my dinner (felt like it was really down there!) and now feel sooooo much better. This was my second experience with stuck food - I'm 5 months post and everythign else has been great, great great. I hope this helps at least one other person! =) Sarah    — Sarah C. Hi Sarah: I am almost 1 year post op and hot tea has been my comfort since day one. When my tummy is not feeling just right, hot tea soothes it...same thing, when food feels stuck hot tea does the trick. I drink about 4 mugs a day and my dr says "pooh pooh" with the caffeine thing if it doesn't interfer with my sleep at night...actually I drink a cup or 2 just before I go to bed and I sleep like a baby...I know how MISERABLE stuck food can feel and when it happens we'll do anything short of standing on our heads...

Another remedy is papaya enzyme. It was recommended by my nutritionist. You can purchase it at vitamin places, to include GNC. Helps to move the food along.

Wow! That's great. I wish I'd have known this little trick before because I've had a couple spells that were really awful. I too tried all the things I could think of walking, bouncing on the end of the bed to try to burb myself (cats sit on the floor and watch this), vomiting, drinking more water (this is a no-no), patting my shoulders, trying to burp... I'm 2 months out and have lost a meager 38 lbs. I'm learning a lot about my new little pouch and that she's quite persnickity!

i'm 9 months out now, but at 3 i had one blockage, my surgeon told me to drink club soda, wait 2 hours and call him back, in 15 minutes i felt it going out of my stomach and out of my body 15 minutes later..
