Question:
I am four weeks post op, I have followed my diet accordingly, but now
I find that I am able to eat and tolerate 1/2 scrambled egg(very mushy) and ground beef(very mushy). I need the protein, but I am wondering if it is too soon. I don't overeat and I definitely chew it to a puree, I just can't bring myself to puree the food in the blender....too gross. Is it okay? — gloria M. (posted on July 10, 2002)

If you can eat it and it's not bothering you, eat and enjoy!!

If you chew your food into a liquid you are pureeing it. Here is what I
have done from 3 weeks out and have been successful with. 1----- cut all
your food into pencil earser sized bites. 2---- put the food in your mouth
and put down the fork. 3----- chew at least 30 times and swallow. 4-----
wait 30 seconds. 5---- repeat until full;).
Eat off a saucer and use baby utensils (at first). Don't drink 1/2 hour
before and 1 hour after your meals. I know this sounds very ANAL but it
worked for me. Good Luck

I agree with Robert in that if you chew it to liquid it becomes pureed.
That is the only way that I pureed my food early on. And still do! I went
home on soft solids and could slowly introduce meats and salads at 4 weeks.

My surgery was June 11th and I can eat lots of things, just not much of it.
If it feels all right, it's OK. I have hot dogs!
