Question:
Hi. I haven't been to a tanning bed in years, but just signed up to treat myself
....and to get a little color on my mayonnaise-colored legs before I go on vacation. I've had a little boost in my self-esteem since losing 85 lbs. I can't believe the prices of the tanning lotions!!! Any suggestions on a good tanning lotion that is not so expensive and goes a long way on large bodies? I'm still a pretty big gal and could go thru a little $30 bottle in a week. Any other ideas or tricks that are economical? Thanks! — Annie H. (posted on June 26, 2002)

Hello Annie....I know what you mean by those tanning lotions being way to
expensive.....If this helps, Wal-mart now carries tanning lotion for
tanning beds it is alot less expensive. I think I paid about $9 for my last
bottle. Not bad compared to $30

Be careful buying the accelerators at walmart. Im sure they are just as
good, but if the people in the salon find out you are using them, they will
not let you use them in their beds. I have always been told that they are
not good for the beds. Sounds fishy to me. I think they want you to buy
thiers. : ) If you do not go the wal-mart route, ask the people in the
salon if they will order some for you. There are some that work
wonderfully that are MUCH cheaper that they sell in the supply stores. I
have always been lucky to have a friend that had a licese that could get
them from the supply places. But I will say, dont just NOT use one. They
will double your tan, therefore saving you money in the long run.

Australian Gold makes a lotion with hemp seed that in MI that sells for
$13.00 to 18.00 a bottle and it seems to work real well. I have tanned for
about a month and a half and I am preety dark and it really makes your
scare look really good.
Good Luck

Hi! Living in Florida, I pretty much use sunscreen (15 to 30 spf) all the
time, but when I do buy tanning lotion, it's usually Ocean Potion or
Hawaiian Tropic. I usually get the "8" because I'm fair skinned,
but I can get a decent color using it. I buy both at Walmart or Target for
around $9....

You may want to write to the company whose product you use most, and ask
them if you could get a discount for buying, say a case of the stuff at one
time. Often companies give discounts for such orders. What's the worst
they can say?
No? You can deal with that, can't you? Have a great day.
