Question:
Open RNY August 5, 2002. Bayview. I was nervous but then I read
alot of postings on this sight. Now I am not so nervous anymore. Do you think that this is normal. My husband isn't either. Should we be. I just wanted to thank everyone for being here! — Melissa E. (posted on June 26, 2002)

I think you run through a million emotions. Excitement, fear,
apprehension, happy, sad, elated, etc. It will continue all the way up
until after the surgery is over.

I never experienced fear or nervousness at any point in my journey. I
researched so much before I had made up my mind that I was completely at
peace wiht my decision. I had total trust in my surgeon, and had made sure
I understood EVERYTHING that was going to happen. Its fine if you are not
nervous, it means you are comfortable with your decision.

There is a big difference between expectations and reality
it can go either way. A lot of the pre surg emotions stay with you but
change focus.
