Question:
Fitting on the rides
Hello ALL! I had my surgery in March. Praise God! I have lost 67lbs. I am at 277 and can't wait untill I can fit into the rides at Six Flags! I am 5'6. Can anyone tell me about what I would need to weigh to fit into the rides? My daughter is hoping that I can take her on her B'day this year. She wants me to be able to ride with her. I'm so excited. Thanks everyone. Love you, Cara. — Cara N. (posted on June 24, 2002)

Hi, I am 8 mos out down 153 lbs. I went to Six Flags for the first time
yesterday since highschool (used to skip going because I didn't fit) I fit
on all the rides and had the best time! I am at 193 right now and am 5'5.
I say go and have a GREAT TIME!

I am 6 feet tall and weigh 270. I went to six flags in Dallas last
weekend. I had to move to a front car on one roller coaster (the mine
ride) and I barely fit into Judge Roy Scream. I did fit on the newer
roller coasters. And to think that I barely qualify as morbidly
obese.....I'd say not fitting on rides is a good sign. Jenn

Last time I was at Six Flags I weighed 265 lbs. I am also 5' 6''. I carry
my weight mostly in my stomach. I was able to fit on all the rides but
beware if you carry alot weight on your hips and back side you may have a
bit of trouble on any rollercoasters with the "bucket type"
seats. I was BARELY able to fit on a ride called the "Batman".
Took 2 people to get the harness thing latched (very embarassing).
Congratulations on your weight loss. I don't think you'll have any trouble
sharing all the rides with your daughter. Have a great time.

I'm 5'5" and 270 pounds... I last went to Six Flags Great America a
year ago (I weighed the same then) and I did not fit on some of the rides.
I carry a lot of my weight in my hips and thighs and I could not squeeze
into some of the smaller seats and could not get the lapbar down in others.
I was completely humiliated. I hope you can go, but I would try out the
test seats that they have at the beginning of the line on some rides first
to save some face later just in case.

Gawd does this questions bring back an awful memory for me... About 7
years ago, I went to Marriott's Great America. I remember waiting in line
for this hanging roller coaster and I was soooo excited. When I got to the
ride, I sat down but the thing wouldn't close down over my belly. The
attendant tried to help me but it was a lost cause. I remember him saying,
"Not even close." I had to get up from my seat and exit - in
front of everyone. My 2 friends stayed on the ride. I haven't been to an
amusement park since. But I do look forward to the day when I can go! :o)

I went to Six Flags over Georgia with my hubby at 260 lbs. (I am 5'4")
and couldn't fit in any of the rides where you have to have a bar over your
head and chest (upside down rides mostly). But one thing I *did* notice was
that as they make new rides they are putting a "mock" chair
outside that you can test out if you fit. Kind of embarassing, but at least
you will know before you wait in line for an hour or two!!

I don't think you'll have any problems on the newer rides because they make
the newer seats bigger. I went to Great America when I weighed around your
weight and I'm 5'5.5" and there was one ride that wasn't a roller
coaster it was like a ship that went side to side that had a steel bar that
came down and I was smashed and would not go on it again. You could also
where a light girdle/support panties to reduce your size a bit.

Hi, I went to Kings Island in Cincinnatti,Ohio yesterday. I am 5'8 265#s, I
wear a 2xin pants and a 1x shirts. Prolly size 20-22 pants. I could fit in
all rides(which i did ride all) some were a tight squeeze and almost didn't
get a bar down on my lap for one but the nice attendant helped me with that
by coming along and pushed on it...my legs and hips are a little sore from
the tightness, but i had fun, so i don't care!
