Question:
Is it okay to dring Lattes after surgery?
I know it sounds crazy but can I live on skim lattes with SF raspberry syrup? Solid food makes me totally sick (9 weeks post op) so I have been drinking iced lattes at the book store. No sugar... but skim milk has the protein, so is that so horrible? I honestly don't recall being warned off caffeine. Any thoughts? — kultgirl (posted on June 24, 2002)

Try decaf and you should be o.k. The caf. in regular coffee or tea helps to
dehydrate you. If you drink thse, make sure to add water to compensate.

I drink at least 2 non-fat, decaf latte per day! It really helps me get in
my protein!! I am addicted to the darn things, for real. Actually, even
if you drink the regular ones, the amount of caffein in them is nominal. I
owned a deli for years...the water runs sooooo fast through the coffee, it
doesn't really have enough time to "sweat" the caffein from the
coffee (unlike regular coffee where the grounds sit in the water for
minutes before it goes in to the pot). The decaf has about 1/2 the caffein
as regular. Best of luck to you, Debbie Iler

I was a caffeine junkie pre-op. At 4 1/2 months post-op, I still can't
tolerate ANY caffeinated coffee. It gives me a terrible stomach ache. I
can drink a little watered down decaf, but that's it. I think it's really
just a matter of what you can tolerate. Some people seem to handle the
caffeine just fine post-op.....
