Question:
Need some advice. I started walking 3 miles/day and have gained weight!!

Is this cause to be alarmed or it is because I am building muscle? I'm at a plateau for almost a month now since I started walking regularly and briskly. I just weighed in and have gained two pounds doing nothing differently other than adding the walking. Comments?    — Annie H. (posted on June 10, 2002)

It is probably just muscle. When I told my surgeon I was going to begin water aerobics, he said not to be surprised if I gained weight at first as I built muscles. Plateaus are a pain.
