Question:
Are there D.S. surgeons in FL?

I am scheduled to have the Lap RNY on 5/17/02 with Dr. English in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. I have been reading an awful lot of very positive things about the duodenal switch surgeries and can't help but feel that maybe it is a better choice for me. I read a posting by a D.S. patient that said he didn't want a "tool" for weight loss. He felt that a tool was just like any other diet he had ever failed on. It made a lot of sense. There doesn't seem to be any food restrictions with the duodenal switch. My actual question although is...Does anyone know of any surgeons in Florida who do this surgery and if so do they take Humana HMO insurance? I just checked duodenalswitch.com, and there are no DS surgeons listed in FL. However, before you decide DS is the way to go, please read Barbara Henson's profile.

Actually, Dr. Barry Haicken has started performing the DS. He's in Largo, FL.
