Question:
I am going to have open RNY July 15th, and beginning to get everything
in order. PLease tell me what items to have ready while in the hospital and what kinds of food to buy up to be ready at home. Also, what kind of Flinstone chewables should I buy and how many months to stock up on them. Thanks. — Judy W. (posted on May 3, 2002)

I would get the looney toons vitamins with minerals and Iron. They are
sugar free, whereas flintstone do have sugar. Depends how long you want to
stock up for. I bought a bunch of baby food for the pureed phase, but it
was so gross, I couldn't stand it. So taste it before you plan on that
being a regular item and stock up on it. I would have some sugar-free
popsicles, etc, and some clear 100% juices (to mix 50-50 with water) for
the clear liquid phase. I also got some premixed protien drinks, but watch
the sugar and carb counts. I got one that was made for low carb diets that
I really liked and drank that quite a bit during the first few weeks. I
couldn't stand broth, but someone recommended strained chichen noodle soup
and that was much better. In the hospital, just normal stuff and loose
fitting clothes. I would recommend easy slip on slippers at home that you
don't have to bend over to put on. Good luck.
