Question:
Are other posties able to eat half a slice of wheat bread at almost 6 weeks post?
Hi. At my recent doc check up I was talking to other posties and they were shocked to hear that I can eat bread. I eat a half slice of un-toasted wheat bread daily and am able to eat any kind of pasta. Now I don't over do this but am I unusual to be able to eat bread? I feel that I can because I am a good chewer. I habitually chew my food up incredibly well until i'm positive it won't get stuck or swell. — Renee V. (posted on April 27, 2002)

As long as you're comfortable with it don't worry about it. Half a slice
is no big deal. It's like everything else in life...certain things are
tolerated better by others than some. We are all different - some people
tolerate water better than others, some people tolerate chicken/beef better
than others, and so on... Don't be alarmed. There are a lot of people
that don't do well with bread but there are probably just as many that do
okay with it. Good luck to you and much success. Sharon Robinson

I started eating sandwiches at 2 months post-op. I began with 1/4 of a
sandwich at that time, which is 1/2 piece of bread. I have never had a
problem with soft bread and pasta. You are not alone. I still limit the
frequency of consumption of these particular foods as they are starchy and
high in carbs. Every once in a while I will have a sandwich, but now can
eat 1/2 sandwich, which is a whole piece of bread. 5 months post-op.
