Question:
Attention anyone who has BC/BS Federal Government-Wide Insurance
Anyone with this insurance had a tummy tuck and/or breast augmentation approved with this insurance? I'm 5 months post op and am interested in starting the process. I'd love to be approved for work on both problem areas. Any suggestions? — Annie H. (posted on March 29, 2002)

annie i have the same insurance. in order to get a tummy tuck & breast
reduction it must be medically necessary & not cosmetic. do u have
rashes or yeast infections under ur apron & breasts? take pics of them.
go to the dr & get prescription meds for them & have the dr write
out the prescription with the reason u need them. eg: rub cream on rash
under breasts & in skin folds of stomach. do u have backaches? these
can be caused by overly sagging breasts. get pain meds & again have the
dr write the purpose on the script. eg: take 1 pill every 4 hours for back
pain. make sure he notes in ur records the exact details of ur visits. eg:
itchy, odorous rash in groin area under stomach. backaches caused by heavy
sagging breasts. also u need to take pictures of ur apron. slip ur hands
under ur apron & on top of ur legs. dont lift ur apron. take pics at
different angles to show the size of ur apron. all of this will be ur
documentation to verify the medical necessity of the surgeries & ur
plastic surgeon should use it all as proof when he submits his request for
surgery.
good luck!

I had a tummy tuck that was paid for. I documented yeast infections, back
pain, hip pain and it was covered. My PS did everything via email and I was
approved in 2 weeks. In may I have a consult for legs/thighs/hips..Rita in

YES.....I have BC/BS FEP, and I am scheduled for my
abdominoplasty in late May....the Plastic Surgeon had to deem in medically
necessary (not cosmetic), and submit pictures and letters of medical
necessity to Blue Cross.
