Question:
Four weeks post-op and have this awful taste or nausea feeling.
This is making me practically where I can't eat or drink. Has anyone gone through this and does it go away. This is very discouraging to me. Came on the second week after surgery. Please help! — Bernice M. (posted on March 16, 2002)

I, too, experienced nausea and sometimes still do every morning from the
time I get up until I eat my first meal, which I usually have to force
because when your nauseous the last thing you feel like doing is eating
your egg. Also, if I tried drinking in the am, the water tasted like it
had tin in it. All I can say is that it clears up-its a matter of time. I
am 5 weeks out and altho it is better, it still has a ways to go. Hang in
there

How does water taste? When does the nausea hit you?

I too, had nausea. At about 4-5 weeks out it started. I was so naseous
even thinking about taking a drink of water! It then progressed to food
and I got a prescription from my DR for Reglan. It has completely gone
away now. Hopefully it won't last long but tell your DR and maybe he can
prescribe something for it. Good Luck!

my sister had the same problem. everything she ate or drank made her sick.
you will probably have a metallic taste for quite a while. that is from the
anesthesia. when i had my breast reduction everything tasted like metal. my
sister is 2 months post op and is still nauseous. she has gotten pills from
her doctor, but they only helped temporarily. it will go away, but the time
going through it is horrible.

I can totally relate to your problem, having gone through 14 months of
nausea/ vomiting..I had a marginal ulcer and everything tasted awful..water
tasted like metal, and food , well, might as well forget it... I would
suggest that you call your doc asap and get scheduled for a scope... ulcers
are easily treated if found early, but if not treated, as mine wasnt.. you
get into major trouble.. My ulcer perforated, and my staple line completely
unzipped.. only treatment for me was another surgery.
