Question:
Is there anyone out there who suffers from constipation almost weekly?
I keep my fat intake low and very little sugar. I don't eat bread at all, but I drink only 4 glasses of water a day. I've never dumped but this constipation makes me feel really bad. I am 6 months post-op and have lost 81 pounds so far!!! Help!!! — [Anonymous] (posted on March 5, 2002)

Drinking your water will help with the constipation. Get hydrated!! I had a
problem with hemmorids and after a colonoscopy it was decided I didn't have
enough fiber in my diet. I drink one glass of Citrucel a day. It helps a
lot. It is sugar-free and tastes like Tang. Good luck!

I became bothered with constipation about a month ago (open RNY 6-26-01)
and started taking Fiber Choice tablets - 2 chewable tablets a day. Made
all the difference in the world. I buy them at Wal-Mart for $10.00 a
bottle. Worth every penny! Good luck!!

I am 7 months post-op and have had that problem. I have been taking 1
Colace (generic brand sold at Walmart) every two days (so...3-4 per week)
in the a.m. with my calcium and multivitamin. It has really helped alot.

I was having terrible problems also. I started taking Metamucil daily (the
powder or wafers) and it has made a world of difference. I was really
hesitant to try Metamucil or any other product that might
"expand" in my stomach, but it has caused me no pain or
discomfort at all. Easy fix to a painful problem.

I know this is an old question, but I have developed chronic homorroids,
too, and my PCP prescribed GlycoLax, a flavorless, colorless fiber
supplement that can be mixed with any liquid. It was important that it be
tasteless because my gag reflex is very sensitive since surgery. I have
only been taking this for a week and things are already much better. I am
also trying really hard to get my fluids in. Sometimes I'm good, sometimes
I'm not. I am currently in my 14th week post-op.
