Question:
Hi Family. I was a size 2X-3X for so many years..............
Now that I'm 4 months post op and down 60+ lbs., I'm in a 1X and they are getting baggy (praise the Lord). I'm talking pants/slacks/trousers. My question is what size do I go to next? I've not bought any new clothes in so long, I've forgotten how the sizes go. Can anyone help me? I'm going to hit a major Goodwill store this weekend and need a guideline as to what to look for.....that's why I'm asking here, cause I don't plan on buying alot of NEW clothes until I hit my goal weight. Thank you very much. — Annie H. (posted on March 4, 2002)

Usually a 1x is equal to an 18W. When you leave 1x a 16W should follow.
After that you will go to a 14W, then a normal 14-12 and so on. Good luck
and congrats!!

Hi Annie, congrats on your loss. I, like you, do not want to invest in new
clothing so I go to the thrift stores to buy things to get me through.
What I did was lay my 'big' jeans and some a little too small, down on my
bed and measured side to side the waist and hips to get an estimate. I
then took my measuring tape and my numbers to the thrift store (since there
is no dressing room), and measured what was on the racks. I came home with
4 pairs of shorts and 3 pair of jeans. The ones that were a little small
on me (always err on the small side!!) will be fitting in another 4-6 weeks
and are fun to try on every week to see them become better fitting. This
is such a wild ride and I'm having a great time. Happy shopping!

Oh, and also I like to go to the regular stores and try on clothes to see
what size I am in. You might try that to get a rough estimate for what to
look for. Enjoy!

Hi Annie, first of Congrats on your weight loss, don't you feel
awesome!!!!? Start out with a size smaller then what you wear, and go
from there. I always take in the size I wear and one and two sizes smaller
to get an idea of my size. I too shop at thrift stores, but a good place
to get new clothes, for a great price is Burlington Coat Factory. My mom
is the women's manager at one, and she is always getting in pants,
leggings, jeans, shirts for 9.99 or less. I bought a pair of jeans today
for 9.99 and sometimes the thrift stores charge that much for an old ratty
pair. I got leggings there for 3.99, shirts for 6.98, 5.98 and less. Like
you I don't want to spend a load of money until I get to goal, but
considerng the prices I just gave you, sometimes the thrift stores are more
expensive. Good luck to you! :)
