I am currently taking Celexa. And I have been for the last couple of years.
I have not gained any weight from being on this medicine. I am pre-op and
will be having my surgery Feb.22,2002. GOOD LUCK with your surgery. Pam

I stopped Celexa on my own prior to surgery with no problems. I don't
recall any weight gain. Good luck and God Bless!

I was on Celexa for about 9 months prior to surgery, took it the day of
surgery, and have stayed on it. Depression is nothing to play around with
and going on/off these medications suddenly can cause major problems with
the chemical levels in your brain. Celexa did make me feel bad (nauseated,
diahrrea) for the first two weeks I was on it (b/f WLS), but everything
evened out after that.

I've been on Celexa for about a year and it has been a Godsend! Mine is a
chemical imbalance....I would be depressed when my life was absolutely
going wonderfully. My surgeon said that I will not have to stop taking it
before surgery and can continue on after surgery. I did not gain a lot of
weight from it (I did that on my own!)
