Question:
Should I have an Xray? I lifted a heavy pkg 3 mos post op.

Hi. I am almost 3 months post op Lap RNY. I'm a postal worker.Yesterday I just lifted the heaviest package off the floor for a disabled customer that I have ever lifted in my life! I carried it out the back door for him and set in on the parking guardrail so it wouldn't have to touch the ground AGAIN. Long story short, about 15 minutes later, I thought to myself "O-U-C-H!!! That really hurt!" So I called the Safety Office and then the boss and today am filling out an accident report just to cover all bases. I hope this is a temporary pain I'm feeling. I know Laps have a low percentage of hernias, but that was so stupid of me in hindsight. But the customer was disabled. Do you think waiting to see my surgeon in early March is okay or should I see my family doctor for an x-ray? I went to church last night but had to leave after sitting there for a few minutes. I was hurting inside, my back and my "guts" and felt nauseaus. Slept on a large heating pad and am off to work again....feeling a little better. What a lesson.    — Annie H. Well, if you are worried about a hernia, and Xray will not show that, it won't show damage to soft tissue (just bones). Your doctor or surgeon can feel around, and it may be obvious if you have one, otherwise, you might have to get a CAT scan if it still bothers you in a few days. Best wishes.
