Question:
Have consult with Dr. G. Burleson-St. Paul. Am concerned as other drs are booked up
he's booking out a month for initial consult and then a month beyond that for surgery. Others in the area are scheduled many months out. Should I be nervous he's not in as great demand? I have read member reviews of him on this webpage. How can I get more info on this doctor? Thanks for your help — [Anonymous] (posted on January 22, 2002)

My Doctor is even faster. It took 1 1/2 weeks for the consultation and I
was schedualed for surgery a little over a month later. I noticed that my
surgeon is very dedicated and busy. He wants you to get the surgery now,
not six months from now when you could have died from a heart attack
already. His name is Dr. Nazarian and he is located in Beverly Hills CA. If
you like him you should have him do your surgery. Find out how many he has
done and how many years he has been doing them. Good Luck!!

The only suspicious thing I have read about him is that he had some sort of
post-op complication with one of his patients. I don't know the specifics
though. But I also had a consult with him about a year ago, but decided at
the time not to have surgery. But he seemed alright to me! This time around
I have a consult with Dr. Ikramuddin at Fairview. Expect a long waiting
time with him though too...I just called a week ago and my first meeting
with him is not until April..

I too had Dr. Ikramuddin for my surgeon here in Minneapolis. He was
wonderful and great bedside manner, but a long wait. It took me 5 months
just to get a consult date. Then another 2 months for surgery. One reason
your surgeon doesn't have a long wait could be the insurance he accepts.
If he doesn't accept most insurance companies, then they won't send their
members there. For example, I'm with Health Partners. He isn't on their
list with my program. However, this is a life altering decision. I know
it's tempting to go with someone because they are faster, but make sure you
do your research on the doctor you choose - it could mean your life. Good
luck to you no matter who you choose!

Yes, it is Sayeed Ikramuddin. And, I have to go along with that comment.
I absolutely LOVE this man. Not only is he an incredible surgeon, but he
has the best bedside manner. When he visited me in the hospital, he came
in and held ans stroked my hand and asked me how I was doing. He checked
my abdomen and told me I looked pretty good. I had my first post op visit
with him today. He is so wonderful! And when they took the steri strips
off I was completely amazed! I was n ever concerned about scars, because
let's face it, I will never be a swimsuit model. But, from the lap RNY he
did, the scars (or marks) I have so far are SMALLER than a piece of rice.
I couldn't believe it. I love this man!!!
