Question:
Has anyone had anything to do with, St. Vincent's Hosp. in Indy ?
or the doctors assoc. with their bariatric unit? What's your opinion? — Ken H. (posted on January 14, 2002)

I initially started my journey with St. V's in Indy and due to the fact
that their process was sooooo long I chose to switch surgeons to Dr. Gomez
at Wishard/IU Med. I was seen by him and his staff and had surgery 14 days
before I would of had my initial consult with anyone at St. V's. Now 12
weeks post op I have no regrets for my switch of surgeons I am down an
amazing 75 pounds and feeling great. I would be happy to answer any
questions you have regarding Dr. Gomez should you have an interest.

Ken I also started with St. Vincents. Who is suppose to be your Surgeon
there?
I had a bad experience with them, actually just with my Surgeon who refused
my insurance but never bother to tell me, before during or even after my
Consultation. Six months was wasted.
I will say this however...I hear good things about all the Surgeons there
including the one who blew me off. The only complaint I had was like Molly,
they are way too backed up for me. Even my old Surgeon was already booked
till June/July and who knows had he accepted it when my date would have
been. If the wait is not an issue for you, then you will probably be
pleased with them. Winona Hospital here also does Bariatric Surgery. I also
switched and hope to use Dr. Gomez.
A good group of ppl to network with here online is WLS_Indy at Yahoo's
egroups. If I can be of further assistance email me.

I have to say my two cents worth even if this question is an old one. I
wouldn't trade St Vincents Hosp Bariatric Unit for anyone. They have the
very best program. You can go to support groups for the rest of your life.
You have access to the dieticians forever also. They have a good program
inclused incase you loose and start having a little trouble sticking with
the food plan. That is why there is such a wait. they are the very best.
Especially Doctor John Huse.
