Question:
I'm not sure what full feels like anymore.
I am 17 days post-op and I have not had a full feeling since surgery. As soon as I eat or drink anything my pouch goes into noise making mode :-) but I don't ever get that full feeling. I'm not hungry after eating. I measure my foods most of the time so I just go by that and not the full feeling. Does anyone else feel like this? I'm really trying to listen to my body here but it's not talking (expect for the gurgling and growling :-) — crishsapig (posted on January 6, 2002)

I was the same way. As a matter of fact my stomach still makes noise when
I drink and after I eat. At 17 days postop I hadn't felt full yet either.
I guess it's just because the liquid flushes right out of the pouch. But,
when you start eating real meals, you will notice you have that full
feeling. Just wait until you eat some chicken or beef and then you'll feel
full.

That will change, and you will be able to gage what full feels like. My Dr.
told me that the stomache generally has air in it but when food arrives the
air moves, well with a normal size stomache it just moves over and we never
hear the noise. With the pouch it is louder because there is so little room
for the air to move, also sometimes you just need to burp to make more room
to eat. It is an adventure, for sure.

I rarely feel full and I'm 10 weeks post-op. I got tired of throwing up so
often so I took to measuring every meal after about 3 weeks. I eat 1/4 cup
of food per meal and usually eat three meals a day. If I do get hungry I
will eat up to 5 small meals a day. I haven't been sick since! Good luck!
