I to have Kaiser, here in Colorado. I've been through the one year program,
and all the other classes they told me to take. I too wonder if I'm wasting
my time. I have spent over 1000.00 dollars already going through this
process. I to thaught that your BMI has to be over 40. mine is 46 with no
comorbs. they had told me it just has to be over 40. were do you reside?
did you have to go through everthing that i had? the director of this
program had told me that anyone with BMI over 40 quifies. so I hope i don't
get a rude awakaning from them that I'm denied. Kaiser does play with
peoples emotions, they have mine but I do believe I have to fight it till
the end. just the other day one of my friends got approved with a BMI of
only 43, were as another friend got denied with a BMI over 50. I don't
understand, but I wish you well, keep fighting the fight it's your life not
there's...

It really depends where you live. Im here in southern california and for
us you have to have a BMI of over 40 with 2 Co-Morbidities or 50 or above
with no Co-Mos. They do make you do ALOT of testing to see if you REALLY
do have these problems that you claim you have. There is a list of Co-Mos
that Kaiser goes by and you have to have at least 2 if you are a BMI under
50. I have a BMI of 44.3 with 2 co-mo's and it has taken me 5 months of
testing and seeing specialist and just last Friday my paperwork was sent in
to see if I can get approved. You need a PCP that knows about WLS and
exactly what your going to need to get approval. I would go for it and try
to get approved..all they can say in NO..but then again maybe they will say
YES.
