Question:
Any sizes 4-6 out there?
I am in a size 6 now, I am ready to stop the weight loss, but don't know how. I bought a lot of new cloths in size M and 6 & 8, I would like to keep wearing them a while. I am headed toward a size 4, any sugesstions? — peaceangel58 (posted on January 1, 2002)

Well, it'll be ideal if you touch the 4 and bounce back to 6, right?
There's a diff between bounceback and regain, so don't panic, OK? How far
out are you? The major wt loss is about 18 months, with creeping going on
for awhile, but I was all done by 18 months myself. Went too low, bounced
around a bit and finally settled. You may just not be DONE yet. And also,
even so, the boniness you may feel now changes after a few more months and
we sorta "fill out" as the muscle returns to fill up the holes. I
know you want to see the finished product Right Now, but you're still being
POLISHED!

Hi Debra, I am almost down to my personal goal, and I am glad you posted
this question. This has also been a question for me. I have recently
started to buy size 6's and still would like to lose 11 pounds, plus have a
tummy tuck and breast lift. I have had alot of well meaning friends express
concerns, just yesterday one of them brought up the topic of "when
will this end" to me.I really resent having people who used to bug me
about losing weight think that they have so much to say about this now, but
that is a whole other topic! I figure that somehow we will have to start
to add some calories to our diets, scary as that may be. I am going to see
the doctor next wek and will try to speak with the nutritionist while I am
there. I can't even imagine going into a size 4 but it looks like that may
happen. I feel so in control of my eating right now and am truly afraid of
changing my diet, and don't know how I will do that. I think the old
emotional issues are surfacing, only this time they are the extreme
opposite of what they were in the past. Instead of being totally out of
control, I am very rigid about what I put in my mouth and am worried about
finding that middle ground. I also wonder if I will ever be able to accept
this weight loss and what I really look like now and stop worrying that
tomorrow I will wake up and be back to being MO. Anyway, if I get any good
information from the nutritionist next wek I will email you and fill you
in. Good luck, Happy New Year!

Oh, quit bragging and enjoy! (lol). Just kidding.....I have no
answers...I'm just amazed that someone can acutally have this surgery
and get down to a size 6! It gives me hope that I might actually get
into a size 14 someday!

Something has changed in the last 20 years since I was in high school, LOL!
I weighed about 145 then (my lightest weight) and I wore a jr. size 11 or
13. Now I see gals here that weigh about the same as I did then and they
are wearing size 6 and 8. What's up with that? Are manufacturers making
clothes bigger in the last 20 years? Back then, I knew girls that were 120
pounds and wearing the size 6 and 8's. I have even seen gals here that
weigh close to 300 pounds in size 18 and 20. Has sizing changed that
much???

I too had this same question about a year ago. I went down to a size 6 and
then headed on to a size 4. I was in a 4 for about 6 months and then
finally came back up and settled into a 6. This happened at about 18
months and by 2 years out I was stable again in a size 6. I honestly
thought that the weight loss would never end. It did though just like
Michelle Curran had said and it happened exactly like she says. At some
point, people say you look too skinny because you haven't "filled
out" yet. A year and a half ago, I was in a 6 and people said I was
wayyy too thin. Now, they think I look fine. My body has filled out
somewhat and I don't look as scrawny. As for the size thing, I think that
ours bodies lose differently with this surgery. At age 20, I weighed what
I do now and was in a size 12 pants. I am now 40, and in a size 6. I
can't really figure it out except that I know that I lost alot in the hips,
legs and butt this time. I lost everywhere though so maybe I had more
muscle 20 years ago..I just don't know. I look very different at 120
pounds now than I did at age 20.

Ladies, re dress sizes! Today's sizes aren't the same as dress
sizes 20 years ago. Today's size 8 would have been a 12 twenty
years ago. That's why you see so many women who wear size 4 and 6's
today...years ago you rarely saw that! My 110lb. sister wears size
0 jeans...she's small, but not THAT small! They did this for marketing
reasons, as the general population got bigger, the manufacturers came
to believe that women would buy more clothes if the sizes were smaller.

Christine--on the size vs. weight issue: I was 115 pounds and a size 12 in
high school. Now I am 138 pounds and a size 8. I know I was bigger then
because I remember my measurements, so the sizes haven't changed too much
in the past 10 yrs or so. The difference for me is the percent body fat.
Fat takes up much more room than dense muscle. I worked out and, as many
others on this site know, you also develop muscle from lugging all that
extra weight around. That's why people who started out at 300 plus start to
look so great around 200 pounds! When I weighed 115 I was about 57% body
fat--a thin fat person. Now I am at about 25% body fat: much healthier even
if I weigh more!
