Question:
I am not loosing weight very fast. I am 5 months out and have only lost 67 pounds.
I am so afraid that I am one of the ones that this does not work for. Has anyone else felt this way and still reached their goal weight? — Cory F. (posted on December 24, 2001)

I am just over 5 months post op and have lost 70 lbs. I have been
OBSESSING about this...reading about so many others and their fast losses.
Then two things hit me: 1, I am NOT obsessing about exercise, eating all
the \"right\" things, etc. If I were doing more of that, I would
probably be losing faster. And, 2, I am on track to lose 75% of my excess
weight by my 18 month anniversary -- and that\'s really my long term
goal...
Anyway, the good news for both of us is that our \"window\" for
losing is still very big...follow the advise of all of those of who have
met their goals, and I\'m sure you\'ll do fine. I\'m upping my protein (I
was a vegetarian before this surgery - now I eat turkey and fish), drinking
at least 64 oz of water a day and SOMETIMES I exercise! hahaha
Best of luck to you. Open RNY 7/17/01.

I am worried just like you. I am four months out and I have only lost about
56 pounds. I really believe everyone is different and we just have to try
and not compare ourselves to others. I have recently started working out
again so I am hoping that will help. Good luck and you will make it!

Hi Cory, After looking at your profile, it appears that you want to lose
a total of 120 pounds. You\'ve lost approximately 50% of that. From what
I understand, we lose about 50% of our total by six months. On that
premise, you\'re right on track; you needn\'t worry. Please also remember
that everyone is different. My sister and I both had the surgery and so
many different experiences. I lost steadily until 11 months out and
completely stopped. Not that I am complaining for I lost all of my excess
weight. She however continues to lose through month 13; though she is not
at goal yet. Everyone is totally different. Just continue to follow
guidelines; no drinking while eating, stop when you\'re full, and don\'t
drink til one hour after eating. Exercise regularly. Drink your water.
So long as you do all of these things I guarantee that you will hit a
healthy #. Does that mean you will be 120#s? I cannot answer that. I set
my goal at 130 and I am not there; nor will I ever get there. I am not
meant to be that light. (Not to mention the excess skin issue). I do wear
a size small and 4-6 and I am healthy... That\'s all that truly matters.
Do not focus on numbers or comparisons and you\'ll probably save yourself
tons of mental grief; take my word for it!

Oh please! When have you lost 67 lbs in 5 months before?
Of course this works, otherwise you would not have lost
that much. Some people just lose slower or faster than others
that\'s all. You\'re doing great, just be patient.
