Question:
Endoscopy vs. Gastroscopy
I'm wondering what the difference is between the two? — [Anonymous] (posted on December 21, 2001)

They are actually one and the same... the definition of an endoscopy is: A
term which refers to a special technique for looking inside a part of the
body. There are upper endoscopy's (which are the gastroscopy) and
gynaecological endoscopy's. A Gastroscopy is defined as: Examination of
the internal surface of the stomach through a special instrument
(gastroscope) that is passed through the mouth, and down the esophagus. It
is a type of endoscopy. Hope that helps... Good luck!
