Question:
Are your ribs broke during WLS?
I have read a lot of post-op's saying that their ribs hurt quite a bit after WLS. Does the surgeon have to break your ribs to get to your stomach? Sorry if this is another stupid question..(smile). — mastrnservnt (posted on October 25, 2001)

your ribs are sore b/c they have to push so far back resulting in you sides
being very sore.

I think it depends on your size. I was 337lbs. and my friend
was 275 and neither of us had any rib pain at all. Also DS to
Rny procedures often involve cracking the ribs because it's
much more difficult to get the already altered stomach.
