Question:
Why don't I feel full after a meal when I know the amount I've eaten should be more
than enough to fill me up. Example: 1/2 cup of yougurt; 1/2 cup of cottage cheese; and 1/2 a sandwich. — Judy W. (posted on October 24, 2001)

It depends on how dense the food you are eating is. For instance, yogurt
and cottage cheese are light and can slide through the pouch. Depending on
what kind of sandwich you eat may do the same thing. I eat 1/2 tuna
sandwich and I am satisfied. What kind of sandwich are you eating? I can
eat a huge salad though.

I have the same problem, and was told to be sure to stretch out each meal
for at least 15-30 minutes because it takes that long for your brain to
make the connection with your stomach that it's full.

If you are still in your first post-op year, it should take
20-30 minutes to eat your meals. Also, don't drink any liquids
30 mins before or 1 hour after your meals. Also, you feel fuller
if you eat crunchy foods like veggies and fruit. I try to stay away
from breads. Carbs increase my appetite.
