When I had my gallbladder out I slept really well on my waterbed. I didn't
have my open rny until after we got rid of the waterbed and now have a
pillow top bed. It was alot harder with the new bed after the rny surgery.
I was more comfortable on the couch. I really missed the waterbed!
Good luck!

I was able to sleep on my water bed about 2 days after I got out of the
hospital, which would mean about 5 days after surgery...it felt so much
better than a hard bed!!Take your time getting in and out tho!

I guess I was one of the people that could not sleep in my waterbed after
surgery. It could have been because i was 349 and even before surgery I
was having a hard time getting in and out. Once i got in I did not move or
turn off at all, I sleep in one position until the next morning.
My stomach was so tender and sore, I had to sleep in the recliner chair for
2 days and than moved to our daughters bed for 2 weeks. After my 2 weeks I
went back to the waterbed. I was able to get in and out if I took it
slowly and it felt so good to be back in my own bed. Now it is absoultely
wonderful at 106 lbs that are gone forever. I wish you the best.

i dont have a surgery date yet (still waiting) but i had gall bladder surg.
few years ago. The Dr. said wait till i didn't have to "pull" or
"push" hard to get in and out. They don't want you to get a
hernea or re-open anything. So i agree with all the others. Just be
careful. It took me about 3 days with g.surg. then i could roll sideways,
then roll enough to put my feet on the floor....i agree. it was so good to
get back in bed!!!! my wonderful bed!!!!

I slept in our waterbed the night I came home from the hospital. No
problem. It felt so good compared to the hospital bed. I don't know how you
get in & out--but I always rolled and pushed up with my arms. This
technique worked good after surgery. I would "gently" turn and
bring my kness up. I would grip the bed rail and push up while extending my
leg to the floor. At least with a waterbed I had something to grab on too.
Anyway, good luck, and remember---be good to yourself. God Bless
