Question:
Has anyone had a BPD with Dr. Sifers in the KC area?
I am weighing the RNY and BPD and wonder if anyone has any info on this Dr. and the BPD. Maybe someone could add thier thoughts to the surgeon database for this Dr. — lallen454z (posted on October 9, 2001)

I thought Dr. Sifers was great! The surgery itself was not nearly as bad as
I had expected. I've lost 120 lbs. since Sept.13,2002. My good friend chose
RNY with a different surgeon and she vomits all the time. She still can only
eat a few bites of food per meal. I can eat normal sized portions. The only
warning I can offer is that you must be prepared to do the Atkins diet for
one year! This is a stipulation of the surgery. It's getting tough for me
because I've been dieting my whole life. This time however, the weight
isn't coming back! The likelyhood of ever gaining the weight back after BPD
is MUCH less than the odds after RNY. Good Luck!!! Deb

I am still preop, but have met with Dr. Sifers and really liked him. I'm
scheduled to re-do my consult later this summer because it's been almost a
year since my first one, but I am still sold on the BPD (for me).
Obviously that is a choice you have to make for yourself. You can also go
to Yahoo Groups and find a lot of his postop patients and ask questions
there. Hopefully you'll even ask some questions I haven't thought of!

I just looked at your profile and see that you are a postop patient of Dr.
Sifers'. Now I'm wondering how long this question has been floating around
out there before someone answered it. Or maybe I'm floating around in the
Twilight Zone somewhere.... Too weird! lol
