Question:
I need a lawyer to help fight Alvarado Hospital billing department
Can anyone help me find a lawyer to fight Alvarado Hospital billing department in San Diego. They billed me $56,000 for my 2 day hospital stay and say I have to pay for 1/2 that my insurance didn't cover. The cash price for the surgery and surgeon is $26,000. It's not fair and I need help please! — Karyn W. (posted on September 13, 2001)

first of all you have to know exactly what kind of plan you have. is it a
ppo or an hmo, if its an hmo. if its an hmo they cannot balance bill for
for nothing because they have a contract with the insurance compnay, and if
it is a ppo, you have a deductible to meet and also an out of pocket, that
is usually like 1000.00 to 2000.00 dollars or maybe less or maybe a little
more depending on your insurance, and if its ppo with out of pocket as soon
as you meet your out of pocket, then the insurance pays for all your bills
at 100% for the rest of the year, when you go out of network. sometimes
you have to look into it yourself and submit appeals to the insurance
companies becase sometimes the claims are paid wrong, or sometimes the
hospital just wants to get addl money.. good luck.
