If you have lymphedema your body is holding massive amounts of fluid. As
the fluid resolves your weight will go down.

Only 106 lbs??????? Are you kidding me???How fabulous is that!!! That is
wonderful! Have you spoken to your physician about the fluid? I have a
friend who is two years post op and is experiencing the same thing. I know
that she was put on something like Lasex? Not sure exactly what it was
called and that has helped some. From what I understand this is a treatable
condition and should definitly be discussed with your doctor. I hope things
improve for you but I hope you aren't to discouraged. You have come so far!
And should be so proud of your weightloss I know people who have not lost
half of what you have in the same amount of time so I think you should be
elated! Good luck to you it definitly would help others if you post what
you find out about the treatment of this condition.

I too have lymphedema in one of my legs. The weight loss (177 pounds in 15
months) has definitely helped. However, now I have all this floppy flesh,
which, when I lose another 100 pounds, the doc assures me can be fixed with
reconstructive surgery. I still get swelling and take a diuretic to keep
it down on certain days. Walking helps, too. Good Luck to you!

Hi, I no longer have lymphedema in my right leg it has turned into
\'lipadema\' which I hate. Don\'t get me wrong I am glad the other is gone
but because I did have the lymph, my right leg is BIGGER then my left leg
and its not going down as well and I hate it!! BTW I am 15 months post op
and have lost now 307 lbs.

I too have Lympedema in both legs - more so in the left than the right. I
have pockets too but now that I have lost 177lbs over the last 14mos, they
are empty sacs and the excess skin just hangs, Yuck! My ankles have shrunk
over 4" since surgery as well as my calves. I was told that they
would always be large but they seem to be shrinking along with my weight
loss. Looking forward to plastic surgery someday to fix my drooping
thighs! I don't take any diruretics because I get in over 80 oz of liquids
per day and exercise regularily which keeps them in check.

I have had what I call Charlie horses in my calfs and feet for some odd
reason. I am just past one year post op and have lost 145 lbs. I asked
the doctor about my legs and he says it isn't related??

Lymphedema is a symptom of protein deficiency, among other things.
Are you doing 120grams or more/day of whey protein supps (shakes)?
This may help the edema, and speed up your weight loss. Go to VitaLady.com
. . . get samples. Find some you like . . .

I'm in the process of researching lymph massage for lymphedema, and related
treatments (compression bandages, physical therapy, self-massage). I heard
that the lymph massage is supposed to help reduce the hanging skin. It's
been used with cancer patients who have had lymph nodes removed.....see Amy
the Butterfly's article on this site entitled, Lymphedemia Awareness. I am
determined to research as many options as possible to plastic surgery.
Let me/us know if you learn anything more and I'll do the same
