I am in GA and have Aetna HMO. I just switched, too. They do pay for WLS if
medically necess. PPO versues HMO can be really stood by visiting theri web
site. HMO does pay for it, however, you have to stay in network for your
surgery. Pick out a couple of surgeons, at least 4, and go to aetna's web
page, go to the provider section and type in the names, if they come up,
they are in the network, so an HMO will do just fine. If they don't you'll
need a PPO or better. Remember with a PPO you will have a copay when you go
out of network. could be a split of 80/20 or up to 2000 dollars, but you
can go anywhere, but don't waste it if the doctor you want is in network.
This is aetna's web site :
www.aetnaushc.com. Good luck!

I have Unitedhealth care PPo and it took 48 hrs to get approved. I was
extremely happy. I had the docs office fax the request.
