Question:
how much will a psych evaluation cost?
Hi just returned from my first consultation appointment. I was told a psych evaluation was necessary. I already new this from this site.I was infomed though that insurance usually will not pay for this. I was wondering how much this would cost. — Kristin M. (posted on August 25, 2000)

My psych eval was 550.00. I went to a psychologist who was in my insurance
network, and the insurance did pay for it, which surprised me. I only had
to pay 50.00 out-of-pocket. By the way, my insurance did not require this
eval, the surgeon requested it.

I had my psych eval. this past Tuesday because it was required by my
insurance (Blue Choice). I went to the Dr. that was recommended by my
surgeon and my co-pay was about $75.00. I don't know what the total bill
for the appointment was, though.

My insurance paid 100% as it was part of my pre-op testing.

hello, I had to have a psych evaluation because blue shield requires it for
wls, I had to pay up-front 180.00 dollars for one hour, but I was late got
lost and only talked to him for 30 minutes and still paid full price. They
will bill blue shield, and I hope to get some kind of refund.

I just received the bill for mine...two hundred and fifty
bucks--appointment was about 1 1/2 hours. It included talking to the
therapist and taking a personality test. I have not received a report. So
far...my insurance refuses to pay. I plan on filing an appeal.

Mine lasted 3 hours and cost $250. I didn't even submit it to my insurance
company. I'll just write it off on my taxes.

I had my psyche evaluation and MMPI test and it was $560 total. Luckily my
insurance paid for it...or at least they gave me a referral and said they
are paying for it. I had it on August 3. All I had to pay was my $10 co
pay.
