Question:
I have to have hernia surgery and it has been suggested that at the same time I 'm
should change my VBG to a bypass. I am a bit apprehensive about having more stomach surgery. I have been working with a team at St. Lukes/Roosevelt and I am looking for other surgeons in the NY/Metro area. I would also like to hear from anyone who has done or is contemplating changing surgeries. A little background. I have lost 150 lbs in the 2 yrs since my VBG but I am still throwig up everything. I can not get a hernia repair until I get the vomiting under control. — Mara M. (posted on August 5, 1999)

Do your self a favor have the hernia repair & lit them do the RNY. So
you can save your self a 3rd surgery. The only thing i can say is that I had
a VBG in 1987 I am still throughing up I lost 135 lbs regained 68 lbs. And
also have developed GERD, Acid Reflux & barretts esophagus that is pre
cancer cells in the esophagus. I have to have a revision. So to take the
presure off the pouch & the esophagus. I need to have a RNY.I also had
to have a hernia repair 2 years after the VBG.And now after all of that i
have to have more surgery to save my life. If you would like to talk more
about this email me @ [email protected]
