Normal? Don't know. I can only tell you that for a time, at night, I
experienced extreme discomfort in my right hip, enough so, that it affected
my sleep. I'll admit I don't run to doctors, so I never had it checked out,
and then it gradually disappeared.

I had wicked hip and back pain as I was losing. Now that I have been at or
near goal for 6 months or so I no longer have it. My doctor said that it
was from my body readjusting to the rapid change in the weight that my
bones had to carry around. It is always worth talking to your doctor
though. Not everything that happens post op is from this surgery.

I have it sometimes too. I think it's just the body shift, as mentioned
below. It goes away after a few days.

It is probably from losing weight and everything is shifting. I had the
same problem in my right hip at first, I did some excersises for it and
took tylenol and it went away completely in about a month or so.

I had lots of knee pain pre-op. The knee pain went away and my hips started
hurting a lotafter I had lost about 70-80 pounds. My surgeon said it was my
center of gravity shifting. You should carry your weight on your pelvis and
hips, but when you gain lots of weight it shifts more weight to your knees.
Good luck. starting weight 350. weight now 146.
