That's hard for me to believe. I think she gained her wt back because she
was eating foods she shouldn't have ate. and now she is in denial about it.
and now that you are in line to have your gallbadder removed she's trying
to sike you into thinking her way. and before you know it you will be
accepting your weight gain and be in the same boat she is. STAY
FOCUSED AT ALL TIMES, KEEP YOUR SCALE AROUND AND YOUR FRIENDS COMMENTS AWAY
FROM YOUR EARS, LOL Best wishes to you as you go into your
surgery.

I havent had surgery yet but I had my gallbladder out two years ago and my
weight has not ballooned from it. The major difference you are going to
notice is that high fat food will run right through you. In my case if I
eat something that is greasy or fatty I will have to go 5 mins later so I
have to eat something light in the mornings to prepare my body for other
food and sometimes milk. Sorry for sharing so much but that's the story.

I just had my gallbladder out in November. It was almost 2 years to the
day since I had my RNY. It's now been 4 months since the gallbladder
surgery and my weight is still the same as it was before.

Rebecca, I had my gall bladder removed several years before my RNY and my
gall bladder removal didn't affect my weight either way. After the removal
of your gall bladder your eating habits should change to include healthier
foods (no fried foods, sweets, etc) for someone who has had WLS this is
pretty much the way we should be eating anyway. Overall, if you continue to
eat the way you should I don't see your surgery negatively affecting your
weight. Best wishes.

I would look at this logically. Educate yourself online about the purpose
of the gall bladder. Then think to yourself as to whether losing this
organ would in any way cause you to take in more calories than your body
uses up each day. It won't cause your body to absorb more calories from
the food you eat - they only have so many calories, your body can't take an
apple and absorb 200 calories from it when it only offers 50. So no, no no
no, this will not cause you to gain weight. Your friend may have gained
after her surgery but it is not the SURGERY that caused that. People want
to put everything else as the reason for their weight gain when in reality
it is their own doing (complex problem, easy to know what to do, not so
easy to DO). It is too easy to sit back and blame things when solving it
takes work.

Hello! I had my gall bladder out 2 years to the day after my RNY. I wish
I could say that my weight loss halt was due to that, but I don't think
that's the case. I have to agree, everything goes through you after that
surgery! It's sometimes miserable, but the terrible pain is finally gone.
Good Luck!

Depending on how active you are, having your gallbladder out, in fact any
major surgery, you will have to lay off the exercising for a little while.
I know that if I continued my normal eating pattern and eliminated
exercising for a few weeks, I would gain! Perhps tht is what happened to
your friend..

OK, Here's my unscientific theory that I wasn't going to post but I keep
seeing this and thinking about it, so here it is. My Mom has gallbladder
problems and has to be very careful about what she eats so that it doesn't
act up. It actually makes her make better (healthier) food choices. If
she had surgery to remove it, I bet she'd gain weight as she would go back
to eating all the stuff she avoids due to the gall bladder attacks. So...
maybe this is what happened to your friend?

I had my gallbladder out 2 weeks ago and I am 14 months post op. I have
started to loose weight again because carbs and fat that I could tolerate
before are making me sick now. I am 14 pounds under my goal weight now so
loosing more is not really a good thing. This has been really hard on me
since they made two incisions attempting to do the surgery laproscopically
and then ended up making another incision for the open procedure. (too many
adhesions) I wish you luck! For me it has been every bit as tough as my
RNY!

This does not make sense. The liver takes over the process of dealing with
the fat the gallbladder normally does. Sometimes people will have more
problems with eating fatty things after gallbladder removal but that
usually subsides over time. As long as you continue on your normal eating
path that got you the weight loss you should be fine in my opinion.
