Question:
I am 1 week post-op and almost anything I drink hurts?
I am following the rules and taking very small, slow, sips and making sure the liquids are not extreme cold or hot but I get a pain in my chest to my stomach that slowly subsides after each drink but it is frustrating because #1- I need to get my liquids in and #2- I am thirsty!! Can someone please help me with this? p.s.- no real problem with the foods (applesauce, yogurt, popsicles, soups) — SassySamara (posted on August 29, 2003)

I am 4 days post-op and am using a baby spoon to sip/eat everything. The
baby spoon was part of the bariartic surgeon's gift bag when I was released
from the hospital and has really come in handy. I find that my sips are
still too large without it. This seems to really help in the amount of hurt
in swallowing. Also I'm finding warm clear broths with some soy sauce
added is much, much more palatable than anything straight out of a can.
The salty taste is very soothing as it goes down. I also find ice chips
extremely soothing.
