I have had this problem my whole life but since WLS, 10/22/02, it has been
much worse. MOM doesn't faze me nor does fiber con or metamusal. It would
take 2 max strength exlax to get any action. That would be accompanied by
cramps and feeling sick. Then I discovered a tea called "smooth
move". I drink a cup at night and go in the morning. I do this 1 or 2
times a week. I get mine at the GNC or any health food store. Try it and
good luck to you.

There are tons of threads on this in the Library -- worth checking out,
because not every solution works for every person. I'm not sure why we get
this so much, but lots of us do. For me, eating a high fiber cereal
(Kellogg's All-Bran) helps a lot, as does Benefiber -- but it's still an
intermittent problem.

I added a bit more fat to my diet and that helped tremendously.

I'm 8 weeks post-op. I'm having terrible problems with constipation. My
nutritionist suggests Senkat-S. Have tried it, not great. I really can't
eat much. Mostly have #2 protein shakes a day, and a little cheese.
That's it. Wish I could eat more, but just can't get it down. Good luck!

This has been a problem for me my whole life...now post WLS its far worse!
I just bought that new stuff called Benefiber, it's a powder and you mix it
into whatever you want, water, coffee, oatmeal..it's totally clear and
tasteless! Even in a glass of water it magically disappears! I've been
drinking a glass everyday, and have gone potty (without pain) everyday! No
constpation at all! I know that this sounds like an infomercial, but I was
so happy to finally find some relief. There have been times since surgery,
when I would go a week or more without GOING! I bought it at Wal-Mart, it's
in a Green Jar and cost, like $8.00 for 24 servings.........OH YA, And It's
SUGAR FREE!!!

Got really constipated at about 10 mo post op. Tried EVERYTHING!
The only thing that worked is a daily regimen of 2 colace and 2 Fiber con
in the am and 1 of each before bed (sometimes two)
Good Luck

I find that regular exercise keeps me going, especially exercises involving
the abs. But, on occasion, I too drink the Smooth Move tea. It's great
stuff. All natural, doesn't give me cramps, and you can adjust its
strength based on how long you steep it.

I feel your pain. After a few unpleasent visits to the rectal/colon
doctor, I found that eating Kelloggs All Bran (with extra fiber) every day
with a few cut up strawberry keeps me regular. If I don't go for a few
days, I feel TERRIBLE, not to mention problems when I finally do go. Good
luck!
